VersaCAMM, Mac and Virtual PC 7: user report

Hello all,

I have recently installed a VersaCAMM SP-300 and although the primary Design/RIP station is Windows XP box, I also have it running quite nicely from an Apple iBook! For your information, here is the setup:
14'' Apple iBook 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4, 768MB DDR SDRAM, 60GB HDD, SuperDrive (DVD+-RW/CD-RW), Microsoft Virtual PC 7.0 for Mac with Windows XP Pro(with the 7.01 update installed) and Roland COLORIP vr 2.01.
VPC7 installed glitch-free in 31 minutes and from then on it was just a matter of loading the Roland RIP and SP-300 driver. There was a bit of an issue with the COLORIP in that all of the files did not install, so I merely copied the ones that didn't over from another network drive; problem solved. I also have CorelDRAW12 and Photoshop 7.0, both for Windows, installed and working just fine. The only item that required a bit of reading was to get the USB functionality working. If one follows the online help to the letter, and in sequence, it works just fine. Although I have only trialed smaller jobs so far with the iBook, the RIP seems to perk right along, even though it is not quite as fast as on the PC (which was expected, but quite acceptable for all but the largest jobs). No lock-ups, hiccups etc.; just as it is on the PC but a tad slower. I would expect that a G5 Mac with 2GB of RAM would be even better. Plus, it's kind of cool to just drag and drop a photo or file from the Mac over to the XP Window! If anyone has any comments or questions, please post and I will keep you up to date.
