Vehicle Wrap of the Day: Washington, MO Squad Car Ready for Hot Pursuit

Ziglin Signs produces fierce-looking wrap

Somewhere beneath Hollywood portrayals of police offers as ill-tempered goons hell-bent on abuse and intimidation, or incompetent screw-ups such as Smokey and the Bandit’s Buford T. Justice, lies the truth about most of the men and women who protect and serve us. Surely they deserve fierce-looking rides that make them feel faster and more decisive in their pursuit of criminals.

The Washington, MO police department wanted one of its squad cars to convey a better message than tired, weather-beaten cut graphics, and it hired Washington’s Ziglin Signs to provide a new wrap. Adam Hagedorn, the shop’s designer, created a wrap that integrates the bold, “rough-and-tumble” look of torn sheetmetal with a red-white-and-blue infusion appropriate for any lawman.

Ziglin printed the wrap with 3M’s Controltac 2-mil, 10-year, air-release media on a Mimaki JV-5 high-speed, solvent-ink printer. To create a more intense glare on the graphics, installer Justin Carroll applied 3M Scotchcal 8515 high-gloss overlaminate with a Seal 6000 Ultra laminator. Installer Brooks Todd finished the job with 3M Gold and Ogee felt squeegees.
