2014 International Sign Contest Entry Form Here

For more than 30 years, our International Sign Contest has featured some of the most creative and innovative work our industry has to offer. And, in many ways, the contest has served as a barometer for trends within the industry: inkjet-printed graphics gradually supplanted cut vinyl, and LED-lit channel letters and cabinet signs now rival neon and fluorescent applications.

However, the overarching constant I’ve noted is the continuing evolution of design. Whether it’s more clients understanding that they need their properties to feature distinctive signage, or a signmaker’s ability to sell the customer on an ambitious program, or both, such stellar signage is a benefit to the industry (and, I admit, for ST as well). Some of last year’s dynamic winners included Weitzel Signs (Butte, MT) building-mounted sign for a distillery, ARTfx s whimsical, train-themed, toy-store environmental graphic and National Signs’ (Houston) Best of Show-winning outdoor LED-sculpture treatment for a Houston burger joint.

The contest (link to the entry form here) comprises 10 categories that encompass the full spectrum of the signage industry. And, entries from non-signshops are encouraged to enter as well. Whether you’re a designer, installer, OEM, distributor or work for a janitorial service who cleans up a shop after hours, as long you provide the required information, we’ll take submissions from anywhere. We encourage OEMs to submit entries; published winners include as many product mentions as possible. Therefore, your customers’ success translates to your success as well.

And, for the second year, we’ll feature our Readers’ Choice Award as well, where our print and online readers will have an opportunity to decide their favorites. The contest judges will select 10 non-electric signs from among the overall contest pool (regardless of category), and 10 electric signs. Voters will vote on www.signweb.com to select the top three entries from each category, and the ultimate Readers’ Choice winner will be selected from these finalists. Weitzel Signs’ Headframe Spirits sign claimed this award along with winning the Commercial Building Signs category.

We only have 7 days until the deadline! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (513) 263-9308 or steve.aust@stmediagroup.com. Good luck, and may be the best signs win!
