Business owners in Lacey, WA may keep existing signage despite city codes that prohibit all but monument and flush-mounted wall signs. The city council has decided to grandfather existing signage.

A city commission recommended extended deadlines for replacing pole signs and billboards, but small-business owners and citizens documented the historical value and revenue generation of highly visible retail signage.
