Designer
Tyson Summers

Peter Salaverry, SkinzWraps’ CEO, wanted his Scion’s wrap to replicate a World War II fighter plane and complement his Old Glory-clad Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Using Adobe Photoshop software and Rasterlink Pro RIP, Summers imparted such nostalgic design accents as panel rivets, a tail gunner and a pinup girl. The shop fabricated the wrap with Avery’s MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS media printed on an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000. To protect their work, SkinzWraps used Avery’s DOL 1030 matte-finish overlaminate – which was used to achieve the rustic finish of a vintage car – applied with a Seal 62 Pro wide-format laminator.

This FastSigns franchise bought a 2009 Smart Car for its staff to use for sales calls. Marcum said, “We get more comments about this car than for any type of advertising we’ve ever done. Getting 40 mpg is a nice bonus, too.” Marcum geared up for the design using Adobe’s Creative Suite and Gerber Omega software. The shop fabricated the wrap using 3M’s Controltac with Comply media on its Mimaki JV-3 60-in., solvent-ink printer. 3M’s 8518 glossy overlaminate, which was applied using a GBC Arctic Titan 60-in. laminator, protects the graphics.

Third Place

Although the Chevy Camaro’s notoriety may have faded somewhat in recent years, few cars define American muscle like this seminal roadster. Owner Tommy Strader’s staff designed the wrap using Adobe Photoshop and fabricated it on a Mutoh ValueJet 1604 with 3M’s Controltac with Comply v3 film. Installers applied 3M’s 8915 flat-finish overlaminate with an Enduralam laminator.
