This wrap’s strong graphic statement earned the unofficial designation of Best of Show runner-up. Lewczak’s creation meshes a colorful project while remaining decisively masculine – paramount when delivering an advertising message for a construction company. He used a multitude of design-software platforms to craft the wrap: Mimaki’s RasterLink Pro III, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and Alien Skin. Lewczak produced Garcia’s wrap on his Mimaki JV-3 solvent-ink printer with Controltac with Comply film. An accomplished former airbrush artist, Lewczak developed a proprietary UV- and scratch-resistant clearcoat and custom installation tools. The logo was situated so that the blinkers won’t interfere with the wrap’s legibility. Also,the air-intake louver and door handle are integrated to blend into the graphics.

Wilson approached Craftsmen about fabricating a wrap to tout his brother, Kyle, a defensive back for the Boise St. Broncos football squad and bona-fide NFL prospect, and the Bronco team. To cover the 33-ft.-long RV, which accompanies the team on road trips, Craftsmen fine-tuned the provided graphics using Illustrator and Photoshop and produced the wrap on its HP Scitex TJ 8300 with solvent ink using Controltac with Comply film and 3M’s Scotchcal 9720i UV laminate.

The judges liked the added detail of carrying the wrap design through to the PT Cruiser’s hubcaps. Dr. Wraps owner Rich Hailstone and his team formulated the design with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and fine-tuned it for production using SA Intl.’s FlexiSign Pro. Using Controltac film, Dr. Wraps fabricated the wrap on its Mimaki JV3 solvent-ink printer, and it coated the 175-sq.-ft. wrap with 8518 gloss-finish overlaminate applied with a Royal Sovereign RSC 1400C laminator. Installation required Avery felt-edged squeegees, 3M’s Primer 94, a torch and X-Acto® knife blades.
