Located in Breckenridge, one of Colorado’s busiest tourist spots, Motherlode Provisions bills itself as “Purveyors of Premium Natural Foods.” I’ve never considered a Bloody Mary to be that natural, though I’m not a health-food expert. The designing duo, Roger Cox and Periandros Damoulis, developed the concept using Gerber Omega and Vectric Aspire software. House of Signs’ project fabricators – Cox, Damoulis, Steve Huyler and Mark Bocksch – built the two-sided, 2 x 5 x 1-ft. sign using Duna’s Corafoam HDU shaped on a Gerber Sabre 408 CNC router, and secured it to a welded-steel frame produced with a Millermatic MIG welder. Other essential tools included a Powermatic table saw, Dremel tools, acrylic paints, metallic coatings and glazes.

Shop owners Manfred Didier and Marcus Goebels collaborated throughout to build this sign that evokes a rustic German locale. They designed the 77 x 40-in., wall-mounted sign with Gerber Omega and Artpath software, and plotted the pattern on a Summa T610. They built it with Dunafoam HDU applied to a plywood backer later, routed the face on a Gerber Sabre CNC router, and cut out details with Pfeil chisels. The duo decorated the face with acrylic paint, 1Shot® lettering enamel and Norris goldleaf after Lefranc Charbonnel size set up tack to allow gilding.

Don’t let the word “saloon” fool you; the Blue Stag offers such gourmet fare as venison stroganoff, fish tacos, trout and, if you like them, Rocky Mountain oysters. So, an upscale, yet rugged, sign was required for the eatery, which was renovated into a late-1800s motif. House of Signs fashioned the support panel from reclaimed barnwood. The same fabrication team built the sign with materials and equipment similar to the Motherlode sign.
