Sign and graphics professionals from all over converged on the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, April 10-12, for the 2024 ISA Sign Expo. Signs of the Times and Big Picture shared a booth and covered the tradeshow and conference.

Highlights included SOT’s 2024 Women in Signs Awards, BP’s Best of Wide Format Awards and the debut of The Sign Industry Podcast, for which Signs of the Times is media sponsor. Among new advancements in printing, lighting, substrates and more, our editors explored the latest sign technologies and applications to bring you the following 30 scenes from this year’s show.

The Signs of the Times squad gathered for a picture at booth 2900, a quiet day before the show floor officially opened. Pictured left to right are Kathryn Arneberg, sales representative; Lou Arneberg, sales representative; Mark Kissling, editor-in-chief; Mildred Nguyen, assistant editor.

Colorado was a destination in the Canon booth, the Colorado printer series, that is. Print samples filled the walls and customers filled this booth.

SDS Automation’s booth was visible from afar with the bright color spectra of iconic illuminated logos.

A closeup look at one of the SDS Automation letters, the smooth and streamlined F1, reveals a unique stripe of illumination in the returns.

Eric E. Larson (left) and son Jacob Larson (thumb up) debuted The Sign Industry Podcast at the Signs of the Times booth. They captured a dozen or more hours of interesting interviews which will roll out in episodes on signsofthetimes.com/podcast.

The Sign Industry Podcast caught up with ISA President Lori Anderson. Signs of the Times Editor-in-Chief Mark Kissling also chipped in to Eric Larsen’s interview.

Assistant Editor Mildred Nguyen, who had no wrap experience, was encouraged to try her hand at applying vinyl at Arlon’s booth. If she beat the clock, she could spin the wheel of fortune for a prize.

Two installers prepped a Chevrolet Corvette for wrapping at ORAFOL’s booth, one of several vehicle wrap demonstrations one might stumble upon at the expo.

Only a couple of days after the recent solar eclipse, the convention center interior cast a similar dim light. Principal Sloan’s was one of the booths brightening the scene.

As Women in Signs Award winner Brandi Pulliam Blanton could not make it to the expo, Annie Nabors, executive director of the Mid-South Sign Association — of which Blanton is a member — took to the front to read her prepared statement.

Schedule conflicts did not afflict every Women in Signs Award winner this year. Alicia Brothers received her award plaque in person and even sat down for a Sign Industry Podcast interview the following day.

Installation vehicles of all shapes and sizes carved out a large swath of space on the tradeshow floor. Like many massive machines showcased at the Expo, these Elliott bucket trucks towered over the humans below.

Just two years short of its 100th anniversary in business, Allanson spells out the three T’s that got them this far.

SOT Editor Mark Kissling and sister publication Big Picture Editor-in-Chief Marcia Derryberry posed in front of the ferris wheel at ICON Park, site of the ISA Rocks party following the first day of the show.

Big Picture held its Best of Wide Format Awards in our booth. Editor Marcia Derryberry presented an award to Ink Monstr CEO/Owner Jon White for their wall wrap of a 43-ft.-tall atrium in Broomfield, CO.

Kristin Lanzarone, CEO of WrapStar Pro accepted a Best of Wide Format Award for their vehicle wraps for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

After the Awards, Signs of the Times Sales Representative Lou Arneberg and Kristin Lanzarone spoke briefly about U.N.I.T.E. Together, a group started by print professionals to benefit inclusion in the industry.

To close out a busy day at the Expo, The Sign Industry Podcast and Signs of the Times squads chilled out at the ICEBAR, a bar room formed entirely of ice and sheltered from the relentless Orlando sun. Ice for the camera!

One of the presentations at the ISA Learning Lounge was given by Mars Bravo, owner of Signs by Mars, on creative use of plaques. The dynamic presentation was sponsored by Gemini.

Lots was always happening at The Wrap Experience booth. During the Expo, ISA announced it is entering a strategic partnership with The Wrap Experience, as ISA is taking minority ownership stake.

This cool effect at the Everylite booth was achieved with LEDs and spinning fans. We were told we would not likely get a good picture but we think we did pretty well!

Roland DGA displayed some textured prints produced by their partner company DG Dimense.

While many exhibitors at the Expo opted for a sleek, clean, modern look, Cutworx USA gave their booth a rough metallic finish that further highlighted the signage’s colors.

The futuristic dancing robot leapt out at viewers — literally — on Planar’s Leyard LA Series LED display.

Orbus Visual Communications set up a café façade with a brick veneer, inviting Expo attendees to sample the product offerings on their menu.

While relatively simple compared to other, more elaborate booth setups, Textile Finishing Systems truly caught the eye with their enormous four-color sewing machines backdrop.

The ISA Sign Expo is a lifetime opportunity to witness industrial machinery in action. This Kongsberg MultiCam Apex1R CNC Router was among many that ran tirelessly through three days of the show.
