YESCO Celebrates 100th Anniversary in Business

YESCO (Salt Lake City) a company known for creating internationally recognizable signs, celebrates 100 years in business in 2020. Today, YESCO represents one of North America’s largest and most recognized sign companies thanks to its historic roster of iconic signs. 

According to a statement made by YESCO, the family-owned and operated company began in 1920 in Ogden, UT. Founder Thomas Young borrowed $300 from his father to start the business, originally known as Young Electric Sign Co. It began specializing in wall-painted advertisements, goldleaf window lettering and coffin plates. In 1932, YESCO created the Boulder Club sign, which depicted a stein of flowing beer. This sign and others allowed the company to become a pioneer in storefront advertising. In 1945, YESCO opened their Las Vegas branch, which remains the largest to the day.

Today, the company is headquartered in Salt Lake City and is helmed by multiple generations of the Young family. YESCO owns three manufacturing plants featuring automated and custom equipment, as well as sales and service offices located around the country. The company also operates a franchise sign and lighting service business throughout the US and Canada.
