The “Neon Speaks Festival & Symposium: A Celebration of Historic Neon Signs,” an inaugural meeting of sign preservationists, was held recently in San Francisco. American Sign Museum founder and Executive Director Tod Swormstedt spoke at the three-day event, dictating a step-by-step presentation during the museum’s restoration of a 16-ft.-tall porcelain enamel sign. The event was hosted by Al Barna and Randall Ann Homan, neon historians and co-authors of San Francisco Neon: Survivors and Lost Icons. For more information, visit neonspeaks.org.
