Beginning today and running through the rest of the week, Signs of the Times presents our second annual Makers of Tomorrow, a quintet of young signmakers who fashion striking sign projects and exhibit a burning passion for the industry.

Chosen from a strong field of nominations from across the US and Canada, these five Makers represent the best of the sign industry’s next generation: the indefatigable head of a custom sign company with a knack for advocacy; an original changing the design practices of a 100-year-old sign company; a grassroots handpainter whose talent matches his massive Instagram following; a graphic designer-turned signpainter inspired and educated by the old guard; and a young shop owner who broadened the fun he was having making products with a laser engraver.

The Five Makers

*Alex Perry, CEO, Right Way Signs (Chicago)

*Jaclyn Veasley, Senior Graphic Designer, National Sign Corp. (Seattle)

*Alex Kurakake, Owner, Smart Alex Signs (Huntington Beach, CA)

*Jennifer Konanz, Owner, Konanz & Co. (Calgary, AB, Canada)
